Salmonella Outbreak Associated with Oysters

Together with state and federal partners, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) continues to respond to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Telekibir infections linked to raw oysters.
Given the positive Salmonella results from the October 13 and 21 oyster samples, effective November 8, the harvesting area closure will be extended beyond the end of the 30-day emergency closure pursuant to Title 28.2, Chapter 8, §§ 28.2-803 through 28.2-808, § 32.1-20, and § 2.2-4002, B.16 of the Code of Virginia.
