Driving Directions to Parking locations near (VDH) Madison Building:

Arriving from Northern Virginia and points North – Interstate 95 South to Exit 74B Franklin Street exit. At the light turn Right onto E. Franklin Street.

Arriving from Tidewater and points East – Interstate 64 West to Richmond. Left exit onto Interstate I-95 South. Proceed about 1 mile to Exit 74B Franklin Street. At the light turn Right onto E. Franklin Street.

Arriving from Richmond’s Southside and points South – Interstate 95 North to Richmond. Take Exit 74C toward Broad Street. Take the W. Broad Street ramp toward State Capitol/Coliseum. Turn Right Broad Street, proceed to 14th Street. Take a Left on 14th and at the next light take a Right on E. Franklin Street.

Arriving from Richmond’s West End and points West – Interstate 64 West to Interstate 95 South to Exit 74B Franklin Street exit. At the light turn Right onto E. Franklin Street.

Parking: Parking is inadequate in the Capitol vicinity. Limited meter parking (2-hour) is available on, Franklin, 14th and Bank Streets from 8 am – 4 pm. Limited all-day pay parking is available at 15th and Cary Streets. If new to the area, it is suggested to call first and confirm directions and parking availability.

Pedestrian Directions to (VDH) Madison Building Visitor Entrance:
To reach VDH on foot from the intersection of 14th and Franklin Streets, proceed West on Franklin a few feet and go up the stairs on the right. Proceed to the first parking entrance on the Left – you will see a blue awning with VDH label. Enter the Madison Building and check in with the guard.

Directions within the Madison Building to Division of Shellfish Safety and Waterborne Hazards:
The Division of Shellfish Safety and Waterborne Hazards is on the 6th floor. Exiting the elevator, proceed to the west side of the building – look for the AED (automatic external defibrillator) on the wall. Proceed through glass doors, turn right and walk to # 614 B.
